Shahin Vassigh, Ph.D.

Dr. Shahin Vassigh is a Professor of Architecture and Director of Technology Research Development in the College of Communication, Architecture, and the Arts (CARTA) at Florida International University (FIU). She directs the Robotics and Digital Fabrication (RDF) lab and co-directs the Integrated Computer Augmented Virtual Environment (I-CAVE). Dr. Vassigh has developed a nationally recognized research portfolio that advances sustainable and resilient built environments through a combination of educational innovation and applied research. Her work has received substantial support from federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the U.S. Department of Education (DOE). She integrates advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR), into her research and teaching. She is the lead author of three books, “Interactive Structures: Visualizing Structural Behavior” and “Building Systems Integration for Enhanced Environmental Performance,” and “Best Practices in Sustainable Design.” Additionally, she has authored numerous journal articles and conference proceedings. Dr. Vassigh’s interdisciplinary educational background includes a Ph.D. in Higher Education from FIU, a Master of Architecture, a Master of Urban Planning, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York.
